Farouk Biosilk BST1001 1′ Ergonomic Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron (Health and Beauty) This item took awhile in the processing and shipping department but was delivered in excellent condition with no flaws. The seller left a nice typed note thanking me for my purchase, as well as informing me of my return conditions which was very professional on their end.The only problems that I encounter from time to time with this flat iron is that my hair gets stuck and pulled out (have to be extremely patient with this iron), and the cord becomes tangled. It heats up to 420 degrees Fahrenheit (thick, curly hair = high heat), but it seems to be resistant in some areas which feels as if it is not properly heated to the temperature it is set on. With any heat styling product, especially this one, I went and purchased a thermal shield to mist on before styling. Thanks!

CHI Purple Glisten Ceramic Flat Iron (Electronics) My 14 year old requested this for Christmas and is very happy with the product. I like what she has been able to do with her hair with this flat iron. I think the ceramic plates are better for her hair. The package came a little beat up which was my only dis-satisfier because it was a gift. Still, the product gets 5 stars.

I decided to try this model because of the good reviews and to save a little money. I was disappointed the moment I unpackaged it. The exterior is cheap plastic that gets hot enough on the plastic that you can burn yourself while using it. I intended to return it after using it the first time, but due to return shipping costs and restocking fees, I would’ve paid $30 for my ‘trial use’ so I kept it. I’ve been using it daily for only 6 months – was hoping to get at least a year out of it - and it died. I was in the middle of styling my hair when I noticed it was off. I tried to turn it back on – nothing. I tried the reset button – nothing. I let it cool off and tried again – nothing. Do not be lured by the pretty colors and low price! Spend the extra money on the ORIGINAL Chi Flat Iron by Farouk – you will not be diappointed. I’m so skeptical of the low prices fo the Originial Chi Amazon, that I’m going to Trade Secret to get mine – even though I will spend twice as much.

Farouk Big CHI GF1533D 2′ Auto-Digital Ceramic Hair styling Iron (Health and Beauty) I have straightened my hair for years and years and just bought this last week after my Hai 2′ straightener started to fall apart, literally (after 7 years of use). This new one is really not a good product. It loses heat SOO fast, so it takes for ever to finish your hair. It also doesn’t really straighten even that well. I’m not sure what is wrong with this thing, but I returned it today.

Farouk Biosilk Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Hair Iron , 1 Inch, Black (Health and Beauty) I love this straightener when I can actually get it to turn on. About two weeks after I bought the Biosilk straightener, it began to not turn on when I would plug it in. It seems I have to have the plug horizontal, the temperature at the highest setting, and then slowly rotate the the cord and watch for the light to flicker. If it flickers then I need to concentrate on getting the cord in just a certain spot to get the straightener to turn on. Once it’s on, it’s fine, and the straightener works as well as the Chi I had before it. I had similar problems with shorts in the cord with my Chi. I think it’s a Farouk thing because I am very careful that my cord does not get kinked in any way ever since my Chi started giving me problems. I would DEFINITELY NOT suggest this straightener to anyone. A friend of mine also has one of these and her’s surged and burned off a chunk of her hair. My hairdresser has said she’s heard of several people who have had similar troubles. My suggestion is just don’t buy Farouk products, they may say they’re top of the line, but their quality is at the bottom.

Ceramic Flat Iron Gf1001 Unisex Flat Iron by CHI (Misc.) I bought this product in July and after barely any use and not even getting close to dropping it, it has just stopped working! I owned a real Farouk Chi straightener in high school that I bought at a salon and my little sister used to use it and drop it all the time and it still worked for years! This is definitely not a genuine product.

CHI 1′ Original Ceramic Style Flat Iron by Farouk (Misc.) My wife bought this product, and it worked well for about a week. After that, it tripped the GFI constantly, until it didn’t work. We complained, so the company sent a replacement. She had the same issue. We tried these in many outlets other than the bathroom ones with the same results. We asked for our money back, and they were prompt in doing so. Nothing lost but a few bad hair days I suppose.
